What is The Vita 4?

Our multi-Emmy® Award-nominated DVD showcases the energetic Vita 4 rock band featuring Pepper, CJ, Broc and Eggy Plant; a quartet of colorful, singing vegetables on a mission to educate through entertainment. The Vita Motion characters themselves are impacted by the effects of sedentary lifestyles, and with the support of each other are able to overcome them and return to the activities they greatly enjoy. Parents, educators, and youth organizations alike are thrilled at how Vita Motion allows children ages 3-8 to discover just how fun learning through music can be. The DVD (available with or without a correlating Curriculum Guide) features four distinct exercise routines that include sports, aerobic, rock star and hip hop themes to provide something to hold the interest of every viewer. Inspector Celery is on board to extol the virtues of nutritional labels and avoiding trans fat, while feisty newcomer Apple Crisp also joins the cast to croon about how an apple a day can indeed keep the doctor away. What is Vita Motion?

Vita Motion will single-handedly change the approach you take to your child’s fitness. Our phenomenal, multi-faceted DVD was created by Vita 4 LLC for the purpose of promoting our Vita 4 Healthy Lifestyle for Kids program. “Get Up! Get Out! Get Moving!” is a fully interactive DVD, and an integral part of a highly effective school curriculum. Our ultimate goal is to educate both children and parents nationwide on the importance of developing a healthy lifestyle beginning at the earliest stages.

As the epidemic of childhood obesity and its consequences continue to grow, significant amounts of “literature” and cookie cutter clutter regarding fitness is being mass produced.  The good news is that Vita 4 emerges from this sea of confusion to provide a clever, fresh, approach for parents and sponsors alike to get the message of responsible eating and exercise out to kids. It also includes the extra benefit of a multi-level curriculum for use by school systems everywhere.

Our innovative DVD utilizes a bumper crop of fun, lively characters, catchy songs, and easy to learn concepts to teach children how to eat well and stay in shape. The best way to stave off diabetes, hypertension, and other maladies stemming from obesity is introduce good nutrition and exercise to kids early. Good habits are hard to break too, and with the help of their parents children can make the right nutritional choices from the outset. The sooner they learn how to eat well, the more likely it is that they’ll continue the practice throughout their lives. It really is that simple.

With Vita 4 Stay Fit for Sure

There are many different ways to make burning calories fun for kids and show them that fitness is not a chore. If you participate, they’ll be more apt to get motivated to join you. In fact, we’ll help you help them. Provided below are a selection of helpful tips to make both exercise and healthy eating fun for your kids, and perhaps even for you, too!

Organized Fitness:

  • Baseball, softball, Tee ball (Most towns have leagues your child can join)
  • Basketball, Racquetball & Tennis (Most towns have free access to courts)
  • Hockey & Ice Skating (Many rinks have inexpensive public skating & stick time sessions. Ask the facility about its rental fees for skates and equipment)
  • Soccer (or just bring a ball out to the local field and kick it around with the kids)

“Anytime” Fitness:

  • Jump Rope – search the internet for those old jump rope rhymes.  Remember “A is for Apple”?
  • Foot Racing – If your town has a football field with painted hash marks, make a game of timing your children in 40, 50, or 100 yard dashes. Once they set a time, ask them to run again and see if they can beat their own “records.” Oh and since you’re already there, toss a football around and kick a few field goals, too.
  • Whiffle Ball (Play Home Run Derby in your own backyard)
  • Teach them the games you used to play, such as Tag, Hide & Seek or Red Rover
  • Hopscotch (Use chalk & not permanent marker for the lines. You’ll thank us later)
  • Supervised Swimming
  • Fun Time with Fido (If you own a dog, have them run around your yard with it.  If you don’t, ask a dog owner if they would like their dog walked, or if they would like some company when they walk their dog.
  • If they’re into video games, show them how to play the actual games many of them are based on. (i.e. tennis, bowling, golf)
  • Try Letterboxing – Go to www.letterboxing.org to find out what it is and how to get started.
  • Make a game out of yard work. Who can rake the biggest pile of leaves? Winner gets “immunity” from one chore that week.

As you can see, there are a number of fun things that promote outdoor fitness. All that’s required is a little imagination. Now, let’s move on to nutrition.  Here are a few easy ideas to promote good eating habits in your household.

  • Instead of rewarding good grades or behavior with a trip to the ice cream parlor, parents can use stickers, a trip to the movies, a play, a ballgame, or a toy.
  • Each time you bring your kids to the grocery store, allow them to pick out a different fruit to share later with the entire family. Incidentally, if your produce department stocks Star fruit or Ugli fruit, you can’t go wrong buying a few. Star fruit is just that, a fruit that looks like an elongated star which then becomes many smaller stars when sliced up. Ugli fruit is an orange, tangerine and grapefruit hybrid with a look that’ll more than likely become a topic of conversation at the dinner table.
  • Provide your child with fresh/dried fruit, yogurt, and granola, then let them design their own healthy parfait.
  • If getting a healthy breakfast is a challenge, toss vanilla yogurt and frozen strawberries or blueberries into the blender with a couple of ice cubes. A nice treat that will kick-start the day!

Of course, the easiest thing to do is simply not to stock the cupboards with sugary snacks. Logic dictates that if they’re not in your home, they can’t be consumed.

The Vita 4 thanks you for your time and attention. We would also like to remind you that good health is always in season; so get up, get out, and get moving!
